All You Need to Know About Redistricting in SLO County for This Years Elections -- Julie Rodewald
Monday, May 2 12pm - 2pm Live Zoom Class Free to All who register
San Luis Obispo County voters who are befuddled by all the changes to our district lines will find help in the form of an informative session with former County Clerk-Recorder, Julie Rodewald.
Julie will bring us all up to date on all of the changes facing the voters in the newly drawn electoral districts. Her overview will include an array of maps that will demonstrate who gets to vote for whom and when.
Further discussion will include the issues of deferrals and accelerations (which people will be voting later or earlier than they would have voted under the old district maps), and how this will affect voters in the June 7th primary election.
Also, Julie will look forward to the November election with a closer inspection of division/district elections in cities, schools, and special districts and what this will mean for voters in the fall.
Elaina Cano, our present Clerk-Recorder will be available to answer questions at the end of the session.
This Zoom class will be live. This webinar is one of a series of Lunch with the League which has been sponsored by the League of Women Voters of San Luis Obispo County since September 2020. The webinar will be offered at no cost to LLCC members or to anyone else interested in this course. A link to the class will be provided to registrants in the last week of April.
Julie Rodewald joined the San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorders Office in 1981 and was elected as County Clerk-Recorder in November 1994. She served in that position for 20 years until her retirement in December of 2014. During her tenure, she was responsible for conducting 35 elections, including 22 regularly scheduled elections, five district or city special elections, four countywide vacancy elections, and four statewide special elections. She has served as the president of the County Recorders Association of California and a Board member for the California Association of Clerks and Elections Officials.
Since her retirement, she has remained active in registering and educating voters for the League of Women Voters of SLO County and she was instrumental in the Leagues High School Voter Registration Project, which is the subject of a short documentary film, "Forever Voters."
