Foraging for Edible Plants with Alan Bergo
Everwood Farmstead Foundation is proud to present the Artist Workshop "Foraging for Edible Plants" with Alan Bergo on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 from 10 am - 3:00 pm!
Wild edible plants are traditionally eaten around the world, but not much in the United States. Join Chef Alan Bergo for a tour of the wild grocery store all around us at Everwood Farmstead. Participants will start out with a casual walk around the property discussing common, easy to identify edible plants hiding in plain sight. After lunch, Chef will demonstrate one of his favorite recipes for preparing leafy greens that you can use for the plants you just found, or favorites from your garden. Class size is limited to 15 participants.
Chef Alan Bergo is one of America's leading voices in the world of foraging and wild food. Known for his website foragerchef.com, the internet's largest resource on cooking with wild mushrooms, his work has been featured on the Today Show, The Sundance Film Festival, and The Wall Street Journal, with essays and recipe selections published in over 15 books. His show, The Wild Harvest, won a Taste award for best Online Food Show in 2022. And his first book, The Forager Chef's Book of Flora, now in its fourth printing, was published through Chelsea Green Publishing in 2021.
The price for this Workshop is $75 a person.
Participants should bring: * Picnic lunch * Comfortable clothes and sensible shoes based on the weather
Beverages will be provided in the barn.
