Sam Rae, Megan Burtt, Amy Martin Live at Leon
Join us on Sunday, April10th for a live performance by Sam Rae, Megan Burtt, and Amy Martin. Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 7:30pm. $15 tickets in advance, $20 at the door.
A former native of Denver, Sam Rae (they/them), blends their roots in classical cello and looping with the traditional landscape of Americana music. With hauntingly deliberate vocals, Sam Rae unveils rich personal narratives that tap into something that is innately shared, weaving in songs of unyielding energy with looped cello and vocals. Alongside their own tours they have doubled as cellist and back up singer for Grammy Award-winning artist Brandi Carlile (2015, 2018-2021) and have toured extensively around the US collaborating with a variety of artists including Brandi Carlile, Gregory Alan Isakov, The Highwomen, Courtney Marie Andrews and more. Sam Rae's music was described by the Charleston Magazine as intentional. Once you accept that Rae is taking you on a journey, you can surrender to the ride.
Megan Burtt is an international touring singer/songwriter decorated with national recognition. She is the winner of the Kerrville NewFolk, Rocky Mountain Folk Festival and Westword Music Award and a finalist in Mountain NewSong, Songwriter Serenade and Great American Song Contest. In 2010 she released It Aint Love, a 12-song collection she made with bandmates, among them, Louis Cato (of Jon Batiste and Stay Human, house band for Stephen Colbert, Marcus Miller, Snarky Puppy, and Bobby McFerrin). She worked with the same group for her 2015 release The Bargain which charts her recovery from a serious illness with songs that move from darkness to light. In 2013 she released In Good Company: The Colorado Sessions a collaborative album of co-writes with Colorado bands including SHEL and Covenhoven.
Amy Martin has been a singer/songwriter in the Shenandoah Valley for the last decade first with her Alternative Bluegrass band, Many Nights Ahead. Amy officially launched her solo career by releasing her first self-titled album in March of 2020 which was made possible by the thousands of dollars raised through community support. In April 2021, Amy released her latest single called, Sweet Virginia a song about the realization that it was time to move West. Amy relocated to Denver, Colorado in April of 2021 and is releasing an Americana album with Grammy Award Winning producer, Chance McCoy, later this year.
