Small Mouth Sounds
Artists in Residence presents the Toronto premiere of SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS by Bess Wohl. This poignant and hilarious play explores all the ways we communicate with others, how we cope with suffering, and the importance of human connection. Following two years marked by social distancing, isolation, and adapting to new forms of communication, SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS is a meaningful and resonant play for our time.
Synopsis: In the overwhelming quiet of the woods, six runaways from city life embark on a silent retreat. As these strangers confront internal demons both profound and absurd, their vows of silence collide with the achingly human need to connect. Filled with awkward and insightful humor, SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS is the unique and compassionate new play that asks how we address lifes biggest questions when words fail us.
