APNM presents Fred Lerdahl's String Quartet Cycle-New York Premiere
The Daedalus Quartet (Min-Young Kim and Matilda Kaul, violins; Jessica Thompson, viola; Thomas Kraines, cello) perform Fred Lerdahl's string quartet cycle in its New York Premiere on April 14, 2022 at the Kosciuszko Foundation, 15 East 65th Street, New York, NY 10065.
In celebration of Fred Lerdahl's upcoming 80th birthday, APNM and the Daedalus Quartet will give the first New York performance of the three interwoven quartets, lasting approximately 70 minutes. The Daedalus quartet was the dedicatee of the third quartet, and has recorded the cycle, performing it for more than a decade. This concert, however, marks the first time the complete cycle is heard in New York. The Boston Classical Review says of the Boston premiere: "Like a well-oiled machine, the Daedalus Quartet brilliantly executed the technical complexities within Lerdahl's scores."
