DAVID JACOBS-STRAIN with Bob Beach, plus Rev Rabia
David Jacobs-Strain Sliding up and down a resonator fret board, his hands flash and spark like bottled lightning. These are hands schooled in Skip James and Robert Johnson. His fiery originals, however, recall more the restless stream of consciousness fervor of Jack Kerouac and Nick Drake than Mississippi juke joints. With references to Hurricane Railroads, Rainbow Junkies, and imagery of rugged Western coast lines and haunted abandoned highways, he draws the listener in to a unique storyline that feels both familiar and modern and spooky and ancient at the same time. He's played Newport Folk, MerleFest, Strawberry, and other roots festivals around the world. Along the way he's garnered rave reviews from the Washington Post, Dirty Linen, and Jorma Kaukonen. Joining him will be harmonica great Bob Beach, acclaimed as "one of the finest blues harp players of his generation."
Guitar Player magazine: "David Jacobs-Strain sings and plays slide-driven country blues with a passion and authority that few artists of any age can muster."
Rev Rabia -Earthy, soulful and entirely authentic country blues singer, guitarist now residing in Richmond , CA . She's been playing her fluent and expressive style of country blues for over 2 decades. Along the way, she has toured Italy with Sonny Rhodes, been a featured performer at the San Francisco Blues Festival, accompanied Robert Lowery and opened for the late, great JJ Cale. www.revrabia.com
