smARTfilms: Snow Falling on Cedars
BIMA smARTfilms series fosters community conversation through the merger of visual art, film, and narrative. After the screening, our host and guest(s) will initiate a discussion about the film and its art. All are welcome to participate in an open exchange of ideas during these post-film discussions.
SNOW FALLING ON CEDARS - Set in the 1950's in the Pacific Northwest - with Pearl Harbor still fresh in the nation's memory - the trial of a Japanese-American fisherman accused of killing a white man is skewed by bigotry. Author David Guterson and Bainbridge Island Japanese American Community (BIJAC) President Frank Kitamoto in attendance. (1999 - 128 minutes - PG-13)
The film will be followed by a hosted discussion about the film with Kristin Tollefson, Frank Kitamoto, & Snow Falling on Cedars' author David Guterson.
