An Evening With Justice Sotomayor
From a housing project in the Bronx to her appointment with the highest court in the land, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor's memoir shares the details of her inspirational journey. Childhood diabetes, an alcoholic father and other roadblocks along the way only added to her determination. Deciding at an early age to become a lawyer, she excelled at academics and became her high school valedictorian before attending Princeton and Yale Law School. My Beloved World shares her heartwarming path to success and perfectly depicts the great American dream sought by so many. For Sotomayor, the dream became a reality in 2009 when, at age 55, Sotomayor became the first Hispanic and the third woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. The intimate depiction of her life is transformative and according to The New York Times, "This is a woman who knows where she comes from and has the force to bring you there." By revisiting her childhood, college days of affirmative action, and early career, she shows that the journey shapes us as much as the ending.
There will be a security check prior to the event; bags will be searched outside the ticketing tables.
