Lyra Music Festival 2022
THE LYRA MUSIC FESTIVAL is an outstanding series of summer classical music events based in Beacon, NY and the surrounding Hudson Valley. Each summer Lyra Music brings together world class musicians, outstanding young string players and pianists and an exceptional faculty of professional musicians and educators for concerts, masterclasses and outreach performances.
Join us June 26th - July 9th for Chamber Music Concerts at the Howland Cultural Center in Beacon, NY and masterclasses at the Storm King School in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY with featured guest artists Estelle Choi, cello, Henry Kramer, piano, Kristin Lee, violin, and the Horszowski Trio.

The Horszowski Trio: Jesse Mills, violin, Ole Akahoshi, cello, Rieko Aizawa, piano Giving performances that are lithe, persuasive (The New York Times), eloquent and enthralling (The Boston Globe), and described as the most compelling American group to come on the scene (The New Yorker), the Horszowski Trio has quickly become a vital force in the international chamber music world. Since their debut performance in New York City in 2011, they have toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, the Far East, and India, traversing the extensive oeuvre of traditional piano trio repertoire and introducing audiences to new music that they have commissioned and premiered. The Horszowski Trios debut recording an album of works by Gabriel Fauré, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Vincent dIndy on the Bridge label was released in 2014 and dedicated to the memory of Mieczysaw Horszowski. Gramophone praised the exemplary performance of the highly accomplished group, concluding, I long to hear more of the Horszowski Trio.

GUEST ARTISTS Estelle Choi, cello, has garnered top prizes as a soloist and as a chamber musician. She has gained international recognition as a founding member of the Calidore String Quartet, an ensemble that celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2020. The Los Angeles Times writes, her tone is rich, deep and powerful, giving the impression that music and the room are a single living being.
Henry Kramer, piano, praised by The Cleveland Classical Review for his astonishingly confident technique and The New York Times for thrilling [and] triumphant performances, is a musician of rare sensitivity who combines stylish programming with insightful and exuberant interpretations. Mr. Kramer, a Steinway Artist, is the winner of numerous competitions and awards, including, a Second Prize win in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels in 2016 and the 2019 Avery Fisher Career Grant.
Kristin Lee, violin, is a recipient of the 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant, as well as a top prize winner of the 2012 Walter W. Naumburg Competition and the Astral Artists 2010 National Auditions, Kristin Lee is a violinist of remarkable versatility and impeccable technique who enjoys a vibrant career as a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and educator. She is the co-founder and artistic director of Emerald City Music in Seattle. "Simply spectacular". (The Advocate).

An exceptional program of solo and chamber repertoire performed by the outstanding young musicians of the Lyra Music Young Artist Performance Program. This concert is the celebratory culmination of 2 weeks of intensive, conservatory-style, classical music training. Young musicians at their brightest Come and Be Inspired!
