Intro to Irrigation Systems
Join us for Intro to Irrigation Systems, an in-person workshop with Ryan Lichttenegger of Steel Wheel Farm on Saturday, March 5th from 9-11am. In this workshop, participants will learn about the three sources of water used for irrigation at Steel Wheel Farmthe river, cisterns and municipal waterand how they are used in conjunction with one another to provide enough water for the crops on this 13 acre farm. Ryan will talk about water volume, pressure, and flow rate and how that information, along with a lot of experimentation, has helped him choose what irrigation systems to use throughout the farm. Participants will have a chance to assemble wobbler heads, and (if timing works out with planting and weather) setup and install a sprinkler line. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions, troubleshoot irrigation issues with other farmers, and leave with some irrigation ideas and resources.
