Darude remains one of dance musics most influential stars. At the age of 24 and at the height of the trance boom of the early 00s Finnish DJ / artist / producer Ville Virtanen created the milestone single Sandstorm under the pseudonym Darude. Sandstorm went on to become one of the biggest selling dance singles in the history of electronic dance music with global sales of over 2 million and featured on over 200 compilations world-wide. The track attained cult like status and gained strong support from industry heavyweights such as Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Pete Tong, Judge Jules and Ferry Corsten, as well receiving phenomenal radio support from national stations in over 70 countries around the world.

American Idol season 6 runner-up Blake Lewis claim to fame was his penchant for beatboxing, a mutated scatting technique developed by 80s rappers to compensate for absent percussion, now as rare in hip-hop circles as hair bands are in modern-day metal.
When hes not beatboxing clever, Lewis nimbly negotiates ballads and rhythmic pop ditties designed to conquer the contemporary top 40 marketplace.

The debut single on Darudes album, Label This!, which hit stores in December of 2008, is the anthem re-make of Flock of Seagulls I Ran with surprise vocals from American Idols Blake Lewis. The album is a fresh venture into the broader more innovative reaches of the modern sound of Darude. This upfront perspective, demonstrates his cross-genre talents as a producer with the album encompasses progressive and electro elements, whilst highlighting distinct influences of breaks and techno. Lewis and Darude have also collaborated on the track, Darude feat. Blake Lewis Selfless, which the two donated to the global charity, Dance 4 Life.
