Los Angeles Pierce College Theatre continues its 2021-2022 Season March 25 with Tanya Sarachos contemporary drama, El Nogalar. Performances begin Friday, March 25 and continue through Sunday, April 3, 2022 in LAPCs Dow Arena Theatre.
El Nogalar is set in present-day Northern Mexico as the Galvan family returns to reclaim their pecan orchard after matriarch Maité has squandered the familys money. Tragically, the land they once knew has slowly been taken over by a drug war. This modern adaptation of Chekhovs The Cherry Orchard explores how a rapidly changing environment of crime and corruption, dangerous and dark, impacts social class and strains the relationships between a mother and her daughters as they face a new reality.
LAPC Theatres production of El Nogalar is directed by Christian Barillas. The cast includes Alex Balderas, Yvonne Caro Caro, Jacob Gonzales, Jhon Cartolin Leon, Loida Novas, Danni Rabbani, Stella Ramirez, Amy Solano and Angelo Spinosa. The production features scenic design by Frederica Nascimento, costume design by Sarah Birke, lighting design by Casey Cowan Gale and sound design by Edward Salas. Sasha Santa Cruz is the stage manager.
El Nogalar will open in the Dow Arena Theatre on the Pierce College campus on Friday, March 25 and continue through Sunday, April 3.
