The Moors - Hollins Theatre Flicker Series
Due to continuing coronavirus pandemic restrictions on campus, the Hollins Theatre will only be open to our campus community of current students, faculty, and staff for in-person viewing during the Spring 2022 term. Friends and family are invited to join us via livestream.
Written by Jen Silverman. Directed by Lauren Brooke Ellis and Deirdre Price.
Content Warnings: The play depicts or references violence, death, toxic/abusive relationships, and intimate partner violence. Strobe and flashing lights are used throughout the performance.
Far from a mainstream, American-realism kind of playwright, Jen Silverman's plays ask the audience to come into a somewhat odd world, and to step over some sort of threshold that might be uncomfortable. The Moors is a dark comedy about love, desperation, and visibility. Two sisters and a dog live out their lives on the bleak English moors, dreaming of love and power. The arrival of a hapless governess and a moor-hen set all three on a strange and dangerous path.
