The Wheatland Chorale "Glad Tidings" Concert
The Wheatland Chorale's 27th Concert Season it will showcase an impressive array of varied and distinguished choral gems ranging from the celebrated Sixteenth Century Renaissance composers Thomas Tallis and Michael Praetorius to the best and most recent "star" composers on the world stage today. This December's performances of its critically acclaimed Glad Tidings Concert will reveal the thematic title "Mystery to Joy" in diverse and refreshing ways.
These December concerts are anchored by familiar Christmas carols, with a "twist!" Ola Gjeilo, a young composer from Norway, provides several beautiful arrangements. His "twists" tend to be harmonic, presenting these familiar carol tunes with haunting and surprising harmonies. The COMPOSER'S CHOICE segment comes from the pen of Jackson Berkey, co-founder and keyboard player for Mannheim Steamroller.
Familiar but ancient Spanish carols get the toes tapping with lively rhythms and percussion. Violin, harp and percussion help us to express both mystery and joy in this very appealing program.
