Langtoun Jazz Festival Vocal Jazz Day Concert 5
Beyond Fever  the songs of Peggy Lee is a fascinating life story.
Singer Sue McHugh tells her story, interwoven with pertinent songs.
All the songs were sung by Peggy Lee and some were co-written by her.

A little bit of chat but the main focus is on the music. A mixture of sexy latin songs, great swing numbers and heart wrenching ballads to illustrate the life of a remarkable performer and woman.

Band lineup

Sue McHugh  vocals
A regular on the Scottish jazz scene for around 20 years, Sue has performed at venues all over Scotland and at jazz festivals in the UK and Ireland.
While her relaxed style and rich alto voice are well suited to Peggy Lees repertoire, Sue also enjoys unearthing and bringing new life to less well known songs.

Campbell Normand  piano
One of Scotlands finest jazz pianists, Campbell has performed with a long line of great singers including the legendary US jazz singer Barbara Morrison.
He is featured regularly at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival and top London music venues and has toured with big bands The Scottish Swing Orchestra and Fat Sams Band

Jimmy Taylor  double bass
Jimmy started playing double bass at seventeen and became a professional musician in 1963 in Leeds, backing cabaret acts including Annie Ross, and Matt Monro.
On his return to Scotland, Jimmy started his own trio The Mellotones who have been packing out the Jazz Bar in Edinburgh every Saturday afternoon for the last fifteen years.

Jack Wilson drums
Jack Wilson started playing drums when he was 14 and had his first gig with the West End Jazz Band when he was 15. Jack is a much sought after drummer on the Scottish jazz scene and is very busy playing music when his day job allows. Big influences on Jacks playing include some of the American big hitters such as Gene Krupa, Ray Baudac and Buddy Rich, amongst others.
Jack plays an authentic early jazz style whilst also bringing his own style to his playing.

If you would like to sit with friends please book together
