Liturgy & Legacy: Eastern Europe Preview
The ROS takes its wonderful show on the road in 2014, visiting several capitals and provinces in Eastern Europe to perform its unique blend of traditional classics and American choral favorites.
Your preview happens on May 16 in the luxuriant acoustic of Asbury First United Methodist Church. Jeff Tyzik's brilliant Psalm 150, and ROS commission, opens the program in typically straightforward, thrilling style, while choral showpieces by contemporary American masters Dominic Argento and Stephen Paulus and Aaron Copland's evergreen favorite "Stomp your Foot" put ROS's splendid sonorities and technical polish on display. Francis Poulenc's Gloria unites sublime, ethereal spirituality with childlike exuberance in an expression of timeless joy. With special guests Elana O'Connor, soprano, and the School of the Arts Concert Choir led by John Gabriele.
