Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Putting History on the Map
As the CHS concludes its ambitious project to digitize and catalog its large collection of maps, visitors will get a glimpse into the project, the new storage facilities, and some of the most significant pieces in the collection, including Dutch maps from the 1600s and the earliest published maps of Connecticut.
When you visit our beautiful and informative exhibits, you are actually experiencing only a tiny fraction of the CHS collection. Hanging under muslin, placed carefully on shelves, hiding in drawers, the objects and images that tell the story of Connecticut are waiting to be shared. We invite you to experience that history in a way only a very few cancome and explore with an all-access pass to see hidden treasures of Connecticut history and learn about how museums work. Behind-the-Scenes Tours will be held every other month at 2:00 pm. The tours last approximately 1 hour and take visitors to the non-public areas of the museum to explore the riches of the CHS collections.
$6 for CHS members, $12 for non-members
