Celebrate St. Patricks Day in grand style with a brilliant musical performance featuring both traditional and contemporary music from The Emerald Isle, played by some of New Yorks finest Irish musicians.
The events musical director Allen Gogarty, who delighted online audiences with his exclusive PWPL concert in 2021, hails from the small village of Kilmainhamwood in County Meath in the Republic of Ireland. He has been performing live and recording for the last thirty years in venues and studios throughout the New York area, both as a soloist and in multiple musical configurations of duos and trios, specializing in traditional Irish music. He is currently completing work on his third solo album, and his earlier releases Mindcocoon and Creature as well as his most recent single Stand Down, are available online.
Pio Ryan, from Lorrha, Co. Tipperary, was introduced to the tin whistle and fiddle at an early age under the guidance of his father, John Ryan, himself a renowned whistle player. Pio soon turned to the tenor banjo as his primary instrument, and later expanded his arsenal to include the mandolin and mandola. He transplanted to the US to further his musical career following graduation from music school, and he was soon playing with some of the best musicians in New York. He spent 9 years teaching music at the Irish Arts Centre in Manhattan, where he was the originator of the Irish Tenor banjo program. Pio has toured extensively for the past 20 years in Europe and Ireland, and he has had the honor of playing for many luminaries including Former President of Ireland Mary McAleese, Former Governor General Of Australia Sir William Deane and was invited to play for the Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny and the Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg at Gracie Mansion. For several years Pio was a musical guest on Good Morning Americas televised St. Patricks Day celebrations. Ryan has played in many Irish Music festivals here in the U.S., and in 2015 he was asked to play a year-long residency for The Walt Disney Company. It was near the end of this contract that he got the call to ask if he would join world renowned Irish folk group The Fureys. Pio played with the band for over three years, appearing in such famous Irish venues as The National Concert Hall, The Helix, Vicar Street, The Cork Opera House, and The Wexford Opera House, among others.
Bassist/vocalist Dan Paccione has been playing music in NYC since 1999. He has appeared with such high profile Irish acts as the McCabes, McClean Avenue Band, and Dans own Irish/Americana group the Boilermakers. Prior to his time in New York Dan spent years exploring the Caribbean and South America as a concert musician with Princess Cruises. He has also traveled and performed as a Cultural diplomat for the United States Department of State.
Bernadette Fee is a well-known New York fiddler, music teacher and champion Irish step dancer, having studied Irish dancing with Cyril McNiff and music with Maureen Glynn Connolly. She is a veteran performer who is very active in traditional music circles. She has performed with a variety of Irish artists and bands, and has enjoyed playing on cruises, at céilithe, seisiúns and at numerous music festivals around the U.S. She also feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to play at the Hollywood Bowl and on TVs Good Morning America. As a member and officer of the P&S Irish Dancing and Music Assoc., Bernadette has choreographed an award winning team of dancers and musicians for the NYC Saint Patricks Day Parade. She can be heard playing and dancing the Stack of Barley in Kevin Fergusons PBS documentary The Irish Catskills: Dancing at the Crossroads. She currently performs weekly at Lillys of Long Beach here on Long Island and at Theatre 80 in New York City.

Doors will open at 10:45am. If possible please arrive 15 minutes before the doors open. The line will form outsde the library building. Your name will appear on our reservation list, and you will be checked in at the entrance to the library. (The library does not offici8ally open to the public until 11am on Wednesdays).
