Event
Dance/Theater Shannon
The goal of this production is to gather up the accumulating repertory of Dance/Theater Shannon and have it performed in one location. Thus far, Dance/Theater Shannon has presented work at various locations in San Francisco. For Home Season, we will present one new work and restage three other dances. The new work is tentatively called It Never Gets Old and explores the act of touch. The other dances on the program include After the Collapse, which premiered at ODC Theater (9/07); Swimming, which premiered at the Move(men)t Festival last year (4/08); and Dancing with Myself, which premiered in 2003 and incorporates live video processing. We have also invited two guest choreographers to present their work in San Francisco for the first time. Jennie Pitts will present one hundred and one small truths. It explores the dynamics of what is communicated and what is withheld and the consequences of either choice. Taryn Packheiser will present a new solo centered around psychological and emotional indecision. Hemming and Hawing incorporates dynamic energy contrasts and musings on personal editing choices when relative to communication through media. With accompanied sound and visual elements, the dancer becomes a world of stifled interaction within and around herself.
