Three-time Grammy-nominated Spektral Quartet actively pursues a vivid conversation between exhilarating works of the traditional repertoire and those written this decade, this year, or this week.
The quartet is known for creating seamless connections across centuries, drawing in the listener with charismatic deliveries, interactive concert formats, an up-close atmosphere, and bold, inquisitive programming.
This performance will be highlighted by nine new works: a string quartet composed by Bernard Rands, plus a series of short pieces written by Chicago Composers' Consortium (C3) members in response to Bernards new work. C3 composers include Larry Axelrod, Kyong Mee Choi, Timothy Dwight Edwards, Kathleen Ginther, Martha Horst, Timothy Ernest Johnson, Laura Schwendinger, and Elizabeth Start.
Tickets are "pay-what-you-can", with suggested pricing of $20, $15 for seniors, $5 for ages 25 and under. All seats are general admission. Tickets will be available for purchase on the Connecting Chords Music Festival website and at the door.
