Christie Bodnar Swiss, Esq. and Howard Franco, Jr., Esq. of Collins + Collins, LLP's San Diego County Office join us to ring in the New Year with their best legal tips for 2022. Their wide-ranging presentation will cover new developments contractual, employment, design practice and negotiation tips to get the New Year off to a great start. As 2022 starts off with new laws on the books, this one is sure to inform in an interactive format with a great legal partner of ACEC.
BIOS:
Christie Bodnar Swiss is the managing partner of the firm's San Diego office. Her practice focuses on general civil litigation; public entity liability; civil rights; architect, engineer, and lawyer professional liability; construction law; business litigation; employment law; and appeals. She has represented design professionals in all areas of their practice, including negligence and contract claims. In employment law, she has handled sexual harassment, wrongful termination, social security, age, and gender discrimination, and class action litigation. She has tried multiple cases to verdict in both state and federal courts. Ms. Swiss is currently a member of several professional organizations, including the San Diego and North County Bar Associations. She is an affiliate member of The American Institute of Architects San Diego Chapter and an affiliate member of the American Council of Engineering Companies San Diego Chapter. She has authored numerous articles on subjects involving her work and is a frequent lecturer for the local chapters of many architectural, engineering, and public entity risk management organizations. Ms. Swiss has also been named by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Southern California in 2018, 2019, and 2020, in San Diego in 2019 and 2020. Ms. Swiss has received an AV® Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell®, the highest rating that organization bestows, for both ethics and ability. She is an active member of the Notre Dame Club.
Howard Franco, Jr. is a partner in the firm's San Diego and Orange County offices and the President of the North San Diego County Bar Association. Mr. Franco focuses his practice on the representation of lawyers, residential and commercial designers, insurance, directors and officers of non-profit and for-profit boards. Mr. Franco is rated AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell®. He is an Allied Member of the American Institute of Architects San Diego Chapter and has presented on: Contracts 101 for Architects during COVID-19; Americans With Disabilities Act and Risk Management; Design Build: An Old Idea for a New Age; King of the Road: The Future of Design and Construction of Roadways; and Supply Chain: Time to Saddle Up. Mr. Franco was selected as a Top Lawyer in San Diego in San Diego Magazine for 2015 through 2022 and in Southern California in the Los Angeles Times from 2017 to 2021 and a Lawyer of Distinction appearing in the New York Times in 2020.
