Broken Chanter - The Glad Cafe, Glasgow (08/04/22)
'A tasty slice of Scottish indie avant-pop' - The List 'One of the elements which resonates most clearly throughout is MacGregor's continuing ability with a shining pop chorus' - The Scotsman
'While the return of Broken Chanter might not save us from a looming climate disaster, it will make it sound a lot better' - For The Rabbits
Broken Chanter is David MacGregor, formerly of Scottish Post-Pop darlings Kid Canaveral. MacGregor released the eponymous Broken Chanter to critical acclaim in September 2019 (A stunning, stately debut - The Skinny) - a record which paints an emotional and expansive soundscape with a distinct sense of place, and showcases MacGregor's ear for melody and dexterity at tugging heart-strings.
MacGregor brings a full band and his new LP Catastrophe Hits to The Glad. Recorded and produced by Paul Savage at Chem 19, Catastrophe Hits is a thrilling and hopeful kick-back against creeping fascism, disaster capitalism, and humanity's apparent death spiral. Featuring a stellar cast of musicians and jam-packed with hooks and humour, Catastrophe Hits is an album filled to the brim with sharp pop sensibility and sublime gentler moments. Not to be missed.
Support comes from Raveloe.
