HIDDEN MERCY WORKSHOPS
PLEASE NOTE: your registration to this event will apply to our 90 minute Zoom workshop on February 9th.

St Pats and St Joes LGBTQ ministries invite you to our first Joint Parish Zoom Book Study on Feb 9th at 7PM; we are featuring author Michael OLaughlins Hidden Mercy. Set against the Catholic Church's crackdown on gay and lesbian activists during the HIV and AIDS epidemic of the late twentieth century, O'Loughlin shares untold stories of those who didn't look away, who at great personal cost chose compassion. His inspiring stories of faith and compassion, within an oppressive church environment of shame and stigma, invite us to reflect on contemporary issues that make it difficult for LGBTQ+ people of faith to find a home in religious communities today.
Our book studies will set the stage for the authors pending visit to Seattle and his talk about his book at Seattle U on Feb 16th at 7:00 pm. He sent his book to Pope Francis and it is encouraging to read his loving response that was published in America magazine and can be found at www.tinyurl.com/2e57222n.

We invite you to participate in this inter-parish conversation to help deepen our understanding of LGBTQ+ issues and strengthen the bonds with our gay sisters and brothers of faith. The book is available widely and you can also listen to the authors podcast at www.tinyurl.com/edzdeetp. It includes the voices and stories of people the author interviewed; powerful and very moving.

You can contact John Dunn 206/604-6627 (text only) or Chris Galloway 206/450-4971 (text only), with any questions. Please pre-register today; all are welcome, everyone belongs!
