Event
BRIO | The Festival Music Society of Indiana
The Festival Music Society's Spring Concert, this year featuring BRIO. The ensemble will present a concert of Sephardic music at 7:30 at the Glick History Center.
BRIO, founded by Steve Rosenberg in 2002, is devoted to the performance of medieval, Renaissance, and Sephardic music. The group performs with period instruments and features the singing of the young Brazilian countertenor, Jos Lemos. Brios colorful array of instruments includes rebec and viols played by Mary Anne Ballard, and recorders, krummhorn, gemshorn, and Renaissance and Baroque guitars played by Steve Rosenberg. Danny Mallon, percussionist extraordinaire, rounds out the quartet with a smorgasbord of Mediterranean hand drums, tambourines, wood block, castanets, and other exotic ideophones. Our Artistic Director, Mark Cudek, will perform as a guest artist.
Please note that this concert will take place at the Frank & Katrina Basile Theater at the INDIANA HISTORY CENTER, 450 West Ohio Street in Downtown Indianapolis. Tickets for this event are sold on an individual basis and are not included in the season ticket package of the Indianapolis Early Music Festival.
