An Afternoon of Northwest Tribal Storytelling
The Northwest Indian Storytellers Association will have plenty of tickets to "An Afternoon of Tribal Storytelling" available at the door on Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2009. However, we need you to reserve your spot ahead of time so we can prepare lunch before our storytelling event.
Plan to join us at 1:00 PM for lunch with the members of the Northwest Indian Storytellers Association. Our storytelling event will begin at 2:00 PM and concludes at 4:00 PM. Six of the Northwest's finest tribal storytellers will be presenting during this time. We will conclude our silent auction of Native American art and other cultural items at 4:00 PM and then close the afternoon with a friendship dance.
This special cultural event will be held at Brighton Creek Retreat Center in McKenna, Washington just east of Olympia Washington. (Driving directions from Seattle and Portland are below this announcements.)
You may also check out the website of Wisdom of the Elders, Inc. at www.wisdomoftheelders.org. WOTE founded the Northwest Indian Storytellers Association in 2005 to encourage, preserve and strengthen traditional storytelling and oral cultural arts among tribes in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. With our mission of cultural preseration and race reconciliation, we share these gifts with the public at annual storytelling festivals held in the Northwest every year.
