A nite of queer liberation
A benefit drag show for Rainbow Railroad
PROOF OF NEGATIVE COVID TEST NO MORE THAN 5 DAYS BEFORE DOORS OR PROOF OF VACINATION. For questions or more information contact respite.eventsfl@gmail.com Rainbow Railroad was founded in 2006 as a volunteer-run organization by a diverse group of LGBTQI+ activists and human rights defenders who wanted to do more to address the levels of violence LGBTQI+ people face worldwide.
There are currently 80 million displaced people around the world the highest number since the end of the Second World War. Every year they receive over 3000 requests for help from people whose lives are in danger. While they are unable to relocate everyone who reaches out, they offer a variety of programs to support individuals unique needs and circumstances.
The COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the situation for many LGBTQI+ people living in unsafe countries. COVID-19 has exacerbated inequalities in access to health care, increased the risk of stigmatization and hate speech directed towards LGBTQI+ people, and heightened the risk of domestic abuse and violence for those forced into lockdown with family members or partners. Throughout the pandemic, Rainbow Railroad has continued to provide life-saving assistance to LGBTQI+ people threatened with violence and persecution around the world.
