Cathedral in Bloom 2022, Feb 25-27

Cathedral in Bloom is back!--the glory of the architecture of The Cathedral of All Saints combined with the talents of the Capital Region's floral artists! Regardless of the weather outside, it will most assuredly be spring inside the Cathedral...
Dozens of floral displays, workshops and presentations will be offered by area floral professionals. Guided tours and a flower market will be available along with organ recitals with music inspired by flowers. There will be a flower painting demonstration at 10 AM on Saturday.
The Afternoon Tea on Saturday at 3 PM has sold out. General and Senior Admission tickets are good for any of the three days of the event and a ticket must be purchased for each day you attend. Children under ten will be admitted for free. Tickets are nonrefundable. Please wear a mask if you are vulnerable or unvaccinated.

11:00 - A Tour of Bloom with Florists: Take a walk with Louis Bower Bannister, Cathedral in Bloom Chair, and see the displays through a florists eyes.
Noon - Recital: Brian Taylor
1:00 - "I Do" or "I Will: A merry look at the history of weddings and the flowers that surround them. Suzanne Pillsworth Becker, of Blooms Floral Design, will share some fun facts about all things wedding. Do you know why the bride carries a bouquet? A glimpse of what marriages throughout history changed the look of wedding flowers in today's world. Plus, what are some of today's floral customs that are now trending?

9:00 - Open Studio: Draw and paint the flowers of Cathedral in Bloom! This time of art and reflection in the sacred space of the cathedral is free for professional and amateur artists. Please use only odorless and non-staining materials and a drop cloth. No free entry to Cathedral in Bloom after 9:30, preregistration is required.
10:00 - Flowers of Manet: Oil Painting Demonstration Using the alla prima technique of Edouard Manet, Cathedral Arts Missioner, Brynna Carpenter-Nadone will create a floral painting.

10:00 - Flower Crowns and Fairy Wreaths: Come join a capital region florist for a fun filled workshop and create a flower crown or fairy wreath so you can feel part of the Cathedral in Bloom decor as you walk amongst the flowers. No experience needed, fun for all ages, you just need imagination and a smile.

1:00 - Floral on the Floor: There are hundreds of flowers and leaves that have been carved, painted and inlaid into the Cathedrals floors and walls. Join us for a short walking tour inside the Cathedral to identify them and learn some of the history and meanings that the original designers and craftsmen had in mind when they were designed into the building.
2:00 - Gardeners helping their communities: Join Master Gardener Susan Crosier Jones as she provides an overview of the Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program.

The three-day event starts at 10 AM on 2/25, but general admissions tickets are good for any day of the event. Special tickets are only needed for the Saturday Tea. |
