Kevin Williamson | from the inside out
an evening of two new dances presented by kevin williamson + company @ stomping ground la
ALL OVER is a new trio performed by dance-artists Kaia Makihara, Alexandra Rix, and Chelsea Roquero. It is an exploration of time and perception, tactility and possibility. The performers attempt to slow down time to capture fleeting moments of intimacy.
FROM THE INSIDE OUT recovers fragments of movement worlds designed by choreographers David Roussève (REALITY), Maria Gillespie (Oni Dance), and Kate Hutter Mason (LA Contemporary Dance Company) whose companies Kevin was a member of for many years. With their permission and in conversation with a special guest, he rehearses movement material and reflects on the impact and imprint their artistry has left on him. The sequences are only a speckle of sand that exist in their epic works and are danced unfulfilled without the family of dancers he had the privilege to share space with and learn from and are danced each evening as remnants. Embodying his small part is a reentry of sorts - back to a time and space of total belongingand an opportunity to honor dance families.
Event Information
Doors will open at 7:30pm. We recommend arriving early to find parking and to use the restroom. The performance runs approximately 60 minutes with no intermission.
Stomping Ground is located at 5453 Alhambra Ave, Los Angeles, CA, 90032 (in the El Sereno neighborhood of East Los Angeles). It is a gray brick building beside a small parking lot with "Stomping Ground LA" painted in large white letters.
Parking
In the evenings, neighbors of Stomping Ground are returning home from work and therefore need the parking spots close to their homes. We want to bring joy and not frustration to the neighborhood, so please consider these parking options:
1. SGLA parking lot
2. Parking on Alhambra
3. Parking on areas of side streets that are not in front of homes
Covid Compliance
MASK REQUIREMENT - Regardless of state or county mandates, all guests are required to wear a mask for the duration of the performance, no matter your vaccination status.
The only exception is when talent is actively performing*
*The cast has been tested multiple times per week and are consistently testing negative.
VACCINATION REQUIREMENT - In compliance with the L.A. City Ordinance all attendees of a public event or performance taking place indoors are required to show proof of vaccination or exemption upon entering the facility. Vaccination status will be checked by a member of the SGLA team before the start of the event.
