SomTwestival's Home for the Holidays! A Fundraiser for the Somerville Homeless Coalition
SomTwestival is a grassroots endeavor using the power of social media to raise money for a worthy local cause in our fair city. SomTwestival is one of hundreds of efforts in the United States and across the globe to promote civic engagement and is an approved event of Twestival. We need your help to support our winning community-based organization with our fundraising campaign!
In its inaugural year, SomTwestival received over 200 nominations for ten different Somerville organizations. The theme? A non-profit serving Somerville residents and providing basic human needs where a donation would help them make the lives of Somerville residents easier over the holiday season.
After careful consideration, 3 Graces Productions is pleased to announce that the winner of this year's SomTwestival is the Somerville Homeless Coalition.
Your contribution will support SomTwestival's Home for the Holidays! A Fundraiser for the Somerville Homeless Coalition. Your contribution of any amount is appreciated to help SomTwestival reach its goal of $1000.
Consider the following as you donate! Did you know that.....
SHC prevents a family from becoming homeless for as little as $1,400, which provides a combination of direct cash assistance, case management, and referrals to other resources.
SHC's Adult and Family Shelters are always at capacity, housing 16 men and women, and 5 families. The average daily cost for shelter is $54 per person.
More than half of SHC's clients have some form of mental and/or physical disability. $500 provides a month of supportive services for one client to assist them in maintaining their housing status and daily tasks.
Many people struggling with homelessness or near homelessness also experience food insecurity and hunger. Our food pantry and meals program, Project SOUP, served over 1,300 individuals last year. $250 provides 5 families with emergency groceries for one week.
Donations of $100, $50 or $25 help support SHC's Rapid Response Prevention Program which makes targeted cash grants to help people meet one-time or emergency expenses, fund our Referral Services, and help stock our Food Pantry.
To learn more about SHC's important work in our community, visit www.shcinc.org.
If you have particular skills or services that you would like to make available to SHC's clients, please let them know by calling 617-623-6111 or email volunteer@shcinc.org.
Thank you again for your support!
