Poetry's Brave Invitation to Drink From a Deeper Well
Join David Whyte for a December morning in Seattle for his first public reading out in our new world, as we hesitatingly return to the outer, social world, wondering who we have become and what we will find on our reemergence.
There is a reason that our inherited mid-winter traditions of celebration, religious or not, are about reemergence, return and revelation, and the internal powers and possibilities found in the depths of the night.
Reading mostly from his new book of poetry Still Possible David will look at what possibly could be possible at this important threshold: hidden from us but intimately close, both inside us, but revealed constantly in our outer proximate world, both personally and societally.
Working with the new poems he will look at the edge of revelation that each of us carries deep within us from our earliest experiences, and the way we live closely to a constant inner well of understanding and rest that lies no distance at all from us, and that can be drunk from, through a robustly vulnerable sense of physical presence and a deep and practiced sense of rest.
Doors open at 9:15am.
