Old time radio show: Stage 49: Dracula
Dracula originally aired on April 24th, 1949, on a prestigious weekly, hour-long Canadian anthology radio series called Stage 49. This adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic was written for Lorne Greene (yes, the long-time star of American TV's Bonanza). Faithful to the story of Stoker's Dracula, with Harker's terrifying imprisonment in the Count's castle in Transylvania, the three vampire brides, Renfield's stay in Dr. Seward's sanitarium, discovering the identity of the "beautiful lady" who stalks young children after dark, the attack on Mina, and the final thrilling battle between the forces of good and evil. With an original musical score written by Edmund Velasco for this production and live sound effects performed by the actors.
