MASTERCLASS with JOSH YOUNG

JOSH YOUNG will be working with actors singing selections from Musical Theater. A 2012 Tony Award nominee for his performance as Judas in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, Josh is also a master teacher. He is currently starring as Che in the National Tour of EVITA. While EVITA is in Portland, Josh will lead a 90-minute class working with FOUR local actor-singers. The four participants will be comprised of TWO students from local high schools, ONE college senior and ONE professional performer.

This is an opportunity for theater lovers and performers to gain insight into the specifics of musical theater performance, auditions and the business of musical theater.

The performances you hear will be rehearsed in advance. The transformation of these performances during the class is immediate and unrehearsed. This is a demonstration of the fine detail that informs the performance which is ultimately seen by the audience.

This is not an opportunity to hear Josh Young perform. You have eight chances for that while EVITA is playing at the Keller Opera House January 7th - 12th.

The Masterclass will be hosted by Douglas Webster, Artistic Director of The American Singer Seminars. Since 1999, the American Singer Music Theater Intensives have been offered during the summers in Colorado. Alumni of the program are currently working on Broadway, London's West End, National Tours and in Regional Theaters across the United States.
