"Dead and Breathing" by Chisa Hutchinson - Baltimore premiere
Cranky old Carolyn Whitlock has been in hospice for far too long and just wants to die already. But she'll have to work harder than she ever has in her privileged life to convince her oversharing and very Christian nurse to help her end it. Through surprising humor and persistent questioning, "Dead and Breathing" investigates morality, mortality, and the intense tug-of-war between the right to die with dignity and the idea of life as a gift.
Noah Silas ("Give Me Moonlight" 2020 and "Serious Adverse Effects" 2021) directs this powerful and funny two-hander, starring Valerie Lewis ("Strange Adverse Effects" and "Rachel" 2021) and J. Purnell Hargrove. First presented as part of the Contemporary American Theater Festival in 2014, Rapid Lemon Productions is pleased to bring Chisa Hutchinson's amazing play to Baltimore audiences for the first time.
Audiences can choose either in-person attendance or live-streaming remotely. In-person attendees must be masked at all times while inside the theater.
