Handel's MESSIAH in Beacon, Friday, December 3, 2021
The Putnam Chorale and Orchestra performs all three Parts of Handel's masterpiece in an uplifting concert that spans three parts of the Bible: Old Testament prophesies of the Messiah's birth; New Testament stories of the birth of Christ, his death, and his resurrection; and verses relating to the Judgment Day, with the final chorus text drawn from the Book of Revelation.
The Messiah oratorio premiered in 1742 in Dublin, and later in London, when the German-born Handel was the preeminent composer in his adopted home of England. It is said that Handel wept while he composed the Hallelujah Chorus and claimed he saw visions of angels while he worked on the piece. It is by far the most frequently performed oratorio in the world. Buy your tickets today for this performance at the historic South Avenue Church of St. Andrew & St. Luke. It's a perfect holiday tradition.
Note: Seating is very limited as the sanctuary is small. Order soon. Senior Discounts with advance purchase. All tickets at the door are $20.
