Asha McCarthy Album Launch with support from Alix Thorpe & Michael Stanton
Asha, Alix and I warmly welcome you to join us for an evening of soulful acoustic music in the heart of Easton.
Asha will play songs from her newly released debut album 'Epitaph'. Asha is a truly gifted singer, songwriter, cellist and sarangi player, drawing inspiration and experience from both the Western and Indian classical traditions. Among others, she has worked musically with Kuljit Bhamra, Jahnavi Harrison, Carrie Tree and Ayla Shafer.
'Epitaph' is an honest and hopeful collection of lullabies and songs inspired by experiences of postnatal mental health challenges. Asha hopes it will reach anyone who is struggling, and bring hope and solidarity to the hardest moments in life.

Alix Thorpe will sing her beautiful and moving heart songs, accompanied by her drum and guitar, as well as the guitar of Michael Stanton. Many of Alix's songs are sung in Proto-Celtic, the oldest known roots of the indigenous languages spoken by the ancient "Britons". Alix's songs are a heartfelt call to the spirits the living earth, with a prayer for peace for all beings. An invitation to dream and reconnect with the timeless, elemental wild beauty within all things.

I will open the night with a short set of original instrumental guitar pieces and some songs with Alix, and perhaps if the stars are aligned in our favour the three of us will even play together.

I am looking forward to hosting what I imagine will be a very magical evening, surely the first event I have produced in a few years! Space 238 is a cafe and yoga studio. The cafe will be open for tea and snacks, and the music will take place in the yoga space, so please bring a cushion, sheepskin or backrest chair to make sure you are comfortable sitting on the floor.
Tickets on the door £10 / £8 concession, but don't let money be an obstacle.
