Dinner to Dye For
Saturday, January 11, 7:00-10:00pm $85 for 18 Reasons members, $95 for the general public*
Join Sasha Duerr, and Chef Kelsie Kerr at 18 Reasons for a Dinner to Dye For. Experience a dip into natural dyeing, while sipping botanically flavored aperitifs and dining on a meal created from the same colorful dye plants. The evening will widen your winter taste and color palette creating both a culinary experience and a natural dye color installation created from urban dye plants and local produce. Includes drinks, dinner, swatches from a mid-winter plant color palette, and a take home naturally dyed textile you'll dye while you dine from the very same plants. ------- Kelsie Kerr is a passionate chef and teacher dedicated to cooking seasonal, local food and establishing connections with small farms and ranchers. Kelsie, former Chef of Chez Panisse and co-author of The Art of Simple Food and The Art of Simple Food II is opening Standard Fare, a new take-home eatery, in early 2014.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sasha Duerr is an artist, designer, and educator whose work is the cross-pollination of biodiversity and the revival of seasonal and local plant-based color. She is the founder of Permacouture Institute, an educational non-profit for regenerative design in fashion and textiles, and the author of The Handbook of Natural Plant Dyes (Timber Press/Workman 2011). She is a professor at the California College of the Arts, where she develops curriculum at the intersection of slow textiles and social practice. Her work has been featured in American Craft Magazine, The Huffington Post and The New York Times.
