Walter Williams/Byron Jones: Obama and the Bush Legacy
Walter Williams, professor, and Byron Jones, professor emeritus at the UW's Center for American Politics and Public Policy, give a talk entitled "Barack Obama and the Challenge of the Bush Legacy." Economists generally hold that market forces, not a president's policies and concept of governance, are the main influences of this countrys economy. Williams and Jones argue that the factors that have brought down the economy this time are the direct result of policies vigorously pursued by Bush (income tax cuts and deregulation) and a dysfunctional approach to governing. Presented by the Town Hall Center for Civic Life, with University Book Store.
