Rite of Passage and Home Lines
Rite of Passage and Home Lines (double feature) - SOLD OUT! Thursday, Nov 11th at 7pm Not Rated, 60min
About "Rite of Passage" (22min) The Wasatch Ultimate Ridge Linkup, known by Salt Lake City locals as simply The WURL, can hold its own against some of the most classic ridge-line traverses in the world. Yet it wasnt until recently that the mountain sports community started to pay attention. With a route this grueling, (36 miles and over 20k feet of elevation gain) it took over a decade for less than 20 people to complete it. But now, The WURL has become a Wasatch rite of passage. Rite of Passage interviews several people who have completed the WURL (Jared Campbell, Alex Honnold, Jason & Stacey Dorais and more) while following local athlete Mali Noyes on her attempt to complete the route.
Post-film Q&A with director Tim Jones and athletes featured in the film (TBA). Part of the Made in Utah Film Series.
About "Home Lines" (25min) Global warming, has forced us all to change our old habits and to take a new look at our local mountains. Searching for adventure in your own backyard makes so much sense. Home Lines adjusts to this new paradigm, choosing to embark on a low impact expedition close to home. The 9-day adventure takes place in the Beaufortain Mountains of the Northern French Alps, down the steep couloirs of Aiguille du Grand Fond Spire and over the fun, naturally-featured terrain where freeskiers can fully express their creativity.
