The Story of Job: When Bad Things Happen to Good People
The B58 2013-2014 performing season marks the premiere of Artistic Director Julianna Slager's newest original story ballet, The Story of Job. Job is a relatable modern-day telling of the fascinating tale of the same name from Biblical times. Set with neoclassical movement to the largely minimalistic music of 21-st Century composers, Job is set apart as one of only a few full-length story ballets created in and for the present day.
Proverbs
B58s classic "pretty ballet" Proverbs will also be featured at the Beverly Arts Center performance. The ballet, set to a series of classical complications of traditional hymns, is inspired by a series of proverbs from the Biblical book.
Indwelling
One of B58s most abstract pieces, Indwelling, will round out the program with an intriguing exploration of the struggle in the Christian soul between the old, sinful nature and the new, redeemed nature found in Christ through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
