Chautauqua Returns First Ever Vaudeville Hootenanny: Show and Dance Party! One Night Only, Friday, December 6
Join the celebration as juggling, music, magic, and merriment fills The American Legion Hall in downtown Port Townsend for one night only, Friday, December 6. (A Hootenanny is traditionally the biggest winter party of the Scottish calendar usually New Year.) The New Old Time Chautauqua, an educational vaudeville circus, hosts this show and dance party to benefit annual summer tours to underserved communities throughout the United States.
This First-Ever Event Will Feed Your Soul, And Your Tummy
The Vaudeville Show (Wear Your Plaid!) Come watch members NANDA and The Flying Karamazov Brothers as they join forces and create a must-see juggling event. Both groups are long time Port Townsend favorites and will leave no juggle club dropped as they delight us in the Vaudeville Show.
Also appearing will be Port Townsend's commissioner of comedy and magician extraordinaire Joey Pipia, Fyodor Karamazov, Sadie LeDonna, Zossima Karamazov, Poet Kevin Murphy, Judith-Kate Friedman, the Fighting Instruments of Karma and more!
You're invited to wear plaid and help "celebrate" the Scottish New Year. According to Chautauqua, it's December 6th!
The Treats, And Then Dance Party!
Included in the ticket price is a traditional Scottish treat, Shortbread baked (and donated) by the Land Trust's own Sarah Spaeth. These will be hand delivered to everyone in attendance immediately following the Vaudeville Show.
As the food is served kick up your feet to the grooves of some of Port Townsend's finest music, including the Tool Shed Trio and the Unexpected Brass Band.
The New Old Time Chautauqua And Friends
The New Old Time Chautauqua is a non-profit organization that brings world class live entertainment and free circus workshops to schools, prisons, and retirement homes throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alaska, and British Columbia. Founded in 1981 by The Flying Karamazov Brothers and Patch Adams, this group of professional performers and educators share their summer months to bring laughter, wonder, and inspiration where it is most needed. The group remains one of the only touring chautauquas in the United States today.
The event celebrates the work of several cool local groups, Land Trust, Songwriting Works, Boiler Room, Jefferson School, Rhythm Planet. Their projects enliven and strengthen the community and give it its unique je ne se qua
