Film and Workshop led by Steve Yelen. A CAC patron since 1975, Steve Yelen enjoyed more than 30 years in corporate leadership positions before the 1997 formation of SRY Consult, Inc. an international consulting firm with a focus on organizational effectiveness and change management. Today, Steve is a certified facilitator and coach. In 1976, as a direct result of the Cinema Arts program Mens Lives, Steve joined what is now known as the Huntington Mens Group. For the last 32 years he has spent his Monday nights at HMG meetings and views his experience in mens work to be among the most powerful, transformative and joyful of any in his life.
Marlon Brando is Terry Malloy, an ex-prize fighter struggling against union corruption along the New York waterfront, in Elia Kazans film classic. Malloys battle takes him all the way to the witness stand, where he finds himself testifying against union leaders. The film was Kazans response to his decision to turn in the names of his Hollywood contemporaries during Senator Joe McCarthys anti-Communism hearings. Lee J. Cobb, Rod Steiger, and Karl Malden were all nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscars. The film was Nominated for 12 Academy Awards, winning 8 including Best Picture, Best Director, Best ActorMarlon Brando, Best Screenplay.
