POISON IDEA ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT DISSENSION OUT OF TUNE D.E.A. $12 IN ADVANCE / $15 DAY OF SHOW DOORS: 8 PM / SHOW: 9 PM
POISON IDEA is an American hardcore punk band formed in Portland, Oregon in 1980. The band originally dissolved in 1993, but has been playing intermittently since 1998.Poison Idea was formed in 1980 by vocalist Jerry A. (aka Jerry Lang). The initial lineup consisted of Jerry A., Chris Tense (guitar), Glen Estes (bass), and Dean Johnson (drums). Inspired by Black Flag and other early Southern California hardcore acts, they were further influenced by Discharge and Los Angeles's the Germs. Germs singer Darby Crash's influence on singer Jerry A., vocally, lyrically, and philosophically, was considerable, and Poison Idea followed the Germs' extremist punk ethic. Tense, who previously had played with Jerry in a group called the Stand, was replaced within a year by Tom "Pig Champion" Roberts (guitar), formerly of the Imperialist Pigs. Jerry A. and his merry maniacal men will be playing all the "hits" and who knows.. maybe some fire-breathing?? We'll see..Also coinciding with this tour will be the recent installments of the long awaited POISON IDEA reissue series on TKO Records. Make sure to attend. We assure you it will be "war all the time"...
ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT: Founded during the early '80s in the East Bay suburb of Walnut Creek by drummer Chris Kontos and guitarist Eric Smith (bassist Rick Strahl and singer joined later), local punk/metal act Attitude Adjustment mixed elements of hardcore and thrash metal and became a popular crossover act later in the decades, opening for a who's who metal and punk bands alike including Vio-Lence, Possessed, Death Angel, Dr. Know, Suicidal Tendencies, Corrosion of Conformity, D.R.I., Discharge, The Exploited and Operation Ivy among others. The group's distinctive logo (featuring the silhouette of a soldier against a two-fingered peace sign taken from the movie poster for Johnny Got His Gun) could be seen on patches sewn to denim vests worn by gutter punks and stickers plastered across the Bay Area. The outfit released its debut album American Paranoia in 1986 on Pusmort Records, but the band's line-up proved as volatile as the music with Attitude Adjustment imploding shortly before its release. The group would soon reform, going on to record an EP and second full length as well as touring the West Coast through the early 1990s with an ever revolving line-up of players prior to calling it quits once again. Kontos would become a respected metal and punk journeyman during the following decade, playing with such groups as Verbal Abuse, Machine Head, Death Angel and Testament. Interest stirred by a MySpace page set up by a Croatian fan led to another reformation in 2007 with . Attitude Adjustment has performed to the acclaim of punk fans here and abroad since reuniting as the band played regular local shows and toured Europe for the first time. After signing to Taang Records in 2010, the band reissued its demos and complete studio recordings. Last year, the band celebrated the release of No Way Back, its first collection of fresh material since 1991 and one of the better metal albums to come out in all of 2011. Attitude Adjustment are still tearing up the road in 2013 and roll right into 2014 with vim and vigor.
DISSENSION: In the simplest terms and the most convenient definition some may call them, "80's Long Beach hardcore", but they're much more than that... Meeting as teenagers at the Black Flag practice spot, Kelly, Matt and Randy started writing songs in jamming in a bed- room. They completed the line up with Franco and then Mike (Target of Demand). DISSENSION came up from the ghettos of Long Beach along side bands like Final Conflict, Bitter End, Body Count, Terminal Choice, Visual Discrimination, etc... and would go on to sharing the stage with the likes of Social Distortion, T.S.O.L., D.I., UK Subs, Bad Religion, China White, English Dogs, NOFX, Fear, R.K.L., Dr. Know, D.R.I., the Mentors, BL'AST, Uniform Choice, etc..., Dissen- sion rose through the ranks and were soon headlining their own shows. Metalstorm Records signed the band and released their first release, "Why Work For Death?" in 1986 and their second record, "We The Fooled" in 1988. Both records were recorded by Chaz Ramirez (best known for his work as a pro- ducer on several Social Distortion records) at Casbah Studio in Fullerton, CA. The recordings were re-mastered in August 2012, by Jack Control of Enormous Door Studios in Austin, TX for this release of both recordings on this CD. Dissension toured the U.S. with NOFX in 1989, disbanded in 1990 and some members went on to play in Sublime, All Day, Cadillac Tramps and Slightly Stoopid. Now they're back and ready to peel your fucking face back.
OUT OF TUNE: They play Hardcore Punk and they don't fuck around. From the backyard party scene of Los Angeles comes this power house hardcore band from Pico Rivera. With members of SMD and THREATENING VERSE they are veterans of the greater LA Hardcore and Punk scenes.
