Pueblo Grande Indian Market & Kick Off Event
NEW THIS YEAR: Before you head out to the weekend Indian Market, plan to attend the inaugural Kick-Off Event taking place on Friday, December 13 at Radisson Phoenix Airport Hotel. Doors open at 6pm and the evening's program includes visual arts exhibits, live musical entertainment featuring local blues band Smokestack Lightning, and chicken-scratch ban Gertie and the T.O Boyz, a fashion Show by designers Shayne Watson Designs, Cody Barker, jewelry by Marco Arviso, as well as ticket raffles and door prizes throughout the evening. Tickets are only $20 at the door, with a limited number available on pueblogrande.org for pre-sale. Cover includes hors d'oeuvres and there will be beer and wine available for purchase.
When asked about the Auxiliary added the Friday Kick-off Event to the weekend festivities, Pueblo Grande Indian Market Chariman Norm Harai responded, "There's so much heart and planning that goes into producing the Market each year. We really wanted to launch the weekend with a celebration that gives patrons a glimpse into what they will see, hear, feel and experience at the Market. This kick-off event came together with the hard work of many individuals who have donated their talents in so many capacities. We're so proud to present such a special event and hope people will come out and celebrate American Indian culture with us."
Tickets to the Pueblo Grande Museum Auxilary's 37th Annual Indian Market will be available for purchase at the Friday Kick-Off. The 37th Annual Indian Market boasts an array of enjoyable, participatory activities for children and adults, and may include activities such as tracking, throwing a rabbit stick at a moving target, making a platter or basket, learning some Indian words and phrase, tasting American Indian foods and learning about traditional dances. The Indian Market will also feature exceptional American Indian music and dance, a variety of native foods, sweet and savory Indian fry breads, delicious cactus chili and other treats, authentic (real American Indian) fine art and collectibles as well as cultural exhibits. The Auxiliary is proud to host the Indian Market on site at Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaelogical Park. By hosting this event at the Museum the Auxiliary makes it all the more special by including Museum entrance (which is usually $6) as well as admission to the Indian Market for just $5.
