Description: The purpose of this Seminar is to present a comprehensive description of the opiate epidemic in America. We will be learning about the historic opiate destabilization of world cultures. We will be presented with powerful personal stories from the family members of those who have been lost. Creative expressions designed to illicit action from participants may be used. We will be educated on the current trends of opiate use and sales in the United States and Michigan in specific. We will concentrate on the new DSM 5 criteria for Substance Use Disorders as it applies to the diagnosis and treatment of opiate addictions. We will be informed about billing practices associated with the DSM-5. We will learn from those who have implemented various opiate maintenance protocols and have evolved practices and policies to reflect lessons learned. We will be taught about current legislation that affects the use of opiates and legal repercussions. Successful Interventions on those suffering with Opiate Use Disorders will be discussed and we will explore what works and what does not, to motivate the addict. We will explore billing and insurance implications of the switch to DSM 5. Treatment innovations and victories will be looked at and presented in the hopes of making a better impact on the treatment of these individuals and their families.
