Welcome to the Neighborhood: Texas Medical Center & Midtown
Advance paid reservations are required for all tours.
Join Discover Houston Tours for a ride on MetroRail's Red Line to two unique neighborhoods: the Texas Medical Center and Midtown.
Meet your guide and board MetroRail at the Fannin-South Station, then ride the train to the Dryden/TMC Station. Tour Texas Children's Hospital's unique playground, living wall, and train exhibit. Take an elevator to the new skyring over Fannin Street leading to the Women's Pavilion. Enjoy a great view of downtown and learn about the origins of Texas Children's Hospital. Restrooms are available.
Reboard MetroRail for a quick hop to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where your guide will take you back in time to the 1925 Cullen Pavilion and Spanish-Mediterranean architecture. See a portrait of George Hermann, who died in 1914 and donated much of his estate to the City of Houston in the form of two parks and this hospital.
One more trip on MetroRail drops you at the corner of Main Street and Holman, where your guide will discuss how this neighborhood has transitioned from the South End to Little Saigon to Midtown.
Tour the MidMain block and the Continental Club block, discovering unique boutiques, shops, restaurants, and services. Pick a coffee shop, restaurant or boutique to spend some time on your own before boarding MetroRail and returning with your guide to the Fannin-South Station.
Option: Stay in Midtown and return to the Fannin-South Station on your own.
