Basic Maintenance Workshop
Interested in learning to fix and maintain your bike? Sign up for our three class Basic Maintenance course! Over the three classes you will progressively learn the basics of maintaining a bike for regular use.
When: First three Wednesdays in December (4th, 11th, 18th), 2013, 7-9 PM
Where: Spokeland Bike Co-op 1121 64th St, Oakland, CA One block west of San Pablo, in PLACE for Sustainable Living
How Much: $60-90, sliding scale. Includes 1 year membership to Spokeland! Space is limited to six students, so please register early! Note that the event is three days; one ticket gets you into all three classes. Work trade is available, at a rate of $10/hour. Please e-mail spokeland@gmail.com to register if you want to pay in volunteer hours.
Content: Learn how to diagnose and fix a flat tire, maintain your chain, adjust your shifting, adjust your brakes, and check bearing adjustments. Time and interest permitting, we may also cover truing wheels and/or adjusting bearings (e.g., hubs, steering/headset, crank/bottom bracket). You are encouraged to bring your own bike--or you can work on one of our project bikes.
