Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Now in its 5th year, this monthly (every 2nd Monday of the month) multicultural comedy show features an eclectic mix of Bay Area comedians and beyond.
This month you'll hear the comedy stylings of: Marga Gomez, Sammy Obeid, Bob McIntyre, Kevin Young, and Lisa Geduldig Marga Gomez is a GLAAD award-winning comedian and the recipient of The SF Bay Guardian and SF Weekly's "Best Comedian" 2012 award. Her television appearances include LOGO's "One Night Stand Up" and HBO's Comic Relief. Robin Williams has called Marga "Amazing." Eve Ensler has called her "Brave, hysterical and feisty," and The New York Times has hailed Marga as "deliciously cheeky." Marga lives in San Francisco but performs nationally at universities, comedy clubs and events. On New Year's Eve she will be headlining a comedy benefit for Brava Theater in San Francisco.
Sammy Obeid graduated from UC Berkeley with a double major in Applied Mathematics and Business...to become a comedian. The Lebanese-American Oakland-born comic has appeared on America's Got Talent and advanced to the Las Vegas round. Placing in the top 3 of the SF International Comedy Competition amongst veteran comedians of 15 years or more, Sammy's 6 years in comedy have proven explosive. Sammy recently completed 1,001 consecutive days of performing, beginning Christmas 2010 and ending September 21, 2013. He holds the world record. On his 998th consecutive day, he performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. www.sammyko.com
Bob McIntyre was born a coal miner's daughter in a cabin on a hill in Butcher Hollow. At the age of 13, he got his first job as a waiter at the local BINGO hall where he learned the skills that would carry him through an additional 25 years of various restaurant jobs in a variety of establishments that would never be referred to as "fine dining." Bob recently returned to comedy after a 5-year hiatus. His cat weighs 19 lbs: 1/5 of Bob's own weight.
Kevin Young has been performing stand up comedy professionally for 15 years in many reputable establishments throughout the country. He has worked with several big names including Mark Curry, Dat Phan, Bobby Slayton and Robin Williams. He took part in the prestigious San Francisco International Stand Up Comedy Competition twice and performed in front of a crowd of 1,600 people at the MountBleu Resort in Lake Tahoe.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (which celebrated its 20th anniversary last December); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion.
