Sat, 12/7: Rebecca Coup Franks Quintet--Rebecca Coup Franks on trumpet, David Valdez on sax, Weber Iago on piano, Chris Higgins on bass and Randy Rollofson on the drums. Trumpeter and composer Rebecca Coup Franks, simply known as "Coupe" has been well established on New York scene for almost 30 years. She has learned from cool cat players like Joe Henderson, Kenny Barron, Herb Ellis, Ravi Coltrane, Victor Lewis and Lou Donaldson. Her music twists and turns in ways that you will not expect with soul that anchors the foundation ruthlessly throughout the songs. She mixes genres, like pop, bebob, Latin, soul, swing, old school and blues. Her artistry surpasses all other endeavors to date. This will be her first appearance in the NW.
