Will Crandell Sextet
Will Crandell is an innovative young jazz drummer who was a winner of the 2016 National YoungArts Merit award in the jazz discipline. He was also awarded Outstanding Drummer awards at the Essentially Ellington jazz festival in 2015 and 2016. He has performed in and around the Seattle and Detroit areas both as a sideman and with his own bands, playing everything from swinging straight-ahead jazz to progressive modern sounds of today. Will is fortunate to have studied with such greats as Randy Gelispie, Matt Wilson, Kendrick Scott, and Ted Poor as well as performed with Randy Napoleon, Etienne Charles, Diego Rivera, Michael Dease, and JD Allen, among others. Will is currently completing his masters in jazz studies at Michigan State University.
Will's Sextet will feature Austin Muthyala on trumpet, Eric Law on saxophone, Dan Parrish on trombone, Andrew Huot on piano, and Lucas LaFave on bass.
