Young People's Permaculture Weekend Course
A full, inspirational introduction to Permaculture weekend especially for Young People.
Aims:
To support young people to become leaders for resilience in a hopeful future To support young people to recognise and utilise their power as agents of positive change To recognise that we ARE Nature we are part of nature, not separate from her or superior to her To facilitate a design process to develop the Abbots Mill Peace Forest garden
Who: Young People 16 to 24
What: An introductory level Permaculture Design course involving young people in climate action, increasing biodiversity , future food security and wellbeing through creating outline design ideas to develop this project as a Community Forest Peace Garden.
How: Through Sadie's Urban Resilience activities such as Graffiti and Rapping. And Jo and Helen's interactive games, foraging, art, group work, nature awareness and design activities, permaculture principles walk, talking stick, open space, art and craft and more.
About the site: Abbots Mill Community Peace Garden is a Peaceful Nature place in the centre of Canterbury. A triangle of woodland surrounded by two parts of the river Stour. All sorts of wildlife can be seen here. Vegan ethics on site.
Our facilitators: All passionate about permaculture and supporting young people in being thriving in an uncertain world. They are highly trained and experienced. All three are qualified Permaculture Teachers. Helen and Jo both have Diploma's in Applied Permaculture Design. Jo Barker Passionate Professional Permaculture Designer, Educator and Activist. She has been involved in a huge range of community environmental projects including young people for decades. Helen Smith South East representative for Youth in Permaculture. She been working with children and young people for over 30 years. She is the founder of Natural Whitstable. Sadie Scarlett Smith (also known as Detrivore) is a musician, journalist and permaculturist, passionate about youth education. Leads the The Hip Hop Academy.
